Looking for High School Volunteers for the 178th Markham Fair

With over 850 volunteers, there are many locations in which you can volunteer: manning Lost Children’s, greeting people at the gates, wearing our dearly loved mascot “FairCrow,” helping kids have fun in the Agri-Food Tent, being apart of the Faircrow’s Farm Park crew, helping out backstage at the Entertainment Tent, aid with crowd control during our meet and greet with Paw Patrol, handle the lines ups for the fabulous SuperDogs, becoming apart of our Social Media Crew, and much more! We look forward to having you be a part of our high school volunteer team!

Volunteering at the 178th Markham Fair allows you the chance to learn some new skills, connect with interesting and amazing people, apply the talents and skills you have in the field and feel the excitement that always comes from making an influential change in other people’s lives, as well as in your own life.

What is the Youth Expo?
The Youth Expo will be an event for high school students to meet with Markham Fair Committee Members to recruit youth volunteers. Locations include manning Lost Children’s, greeting people at the gates, wearing our dearly loved mascot “FairCrow,” helping kids have fun in the Agri-Food Tent,  refereeing kids at Faircrow’s Farm Park, helping out backstage at the Entertainment Tent, aiding with crowd control during our meet and greet with Paw Patrol, handle the lines ups for the fabulous SuperDogs, becoming apart of our Social Media Crew, etc.

You’ll get to find out their roles, ask questions about what they do, and sign up for different volunteer roles that interest you.  If you’ve been wondering where to do your 40 hours, the Youth Expo is the perfect opportunity to explore endless volunteering possibilities!

When and where will it take place?
The 2022 Expo will be held on 

  • Wednesday, September 14, 2022, from 7 pm to 9 pm
  • Monday, September 19, 2022, from 7 pm to 9 pm

at the Livestock Barn at the Markham Fairgrounds10801 McCowan Road, Markham, ON. 

Election of new Board of Directors

On January 19, 2022, a new Board of Directors and Executive was elected by the members of the Markham and East York Agricultural Societies annual general meeting. Amanda King, Markham Fair’s 2020 & 2021’s President thanked all the members for attending the meeting.  Special thanks was given to members of the board who’s terms have ended; Doug Savage and Sarah Dunlop for their years of service.  Amanda also welcomed new Senior Directors, James Drake and Devin King who moved up from a Junior Director position. Zoe Ducheck and Shae-Lynn Seeley Reesor were also welcomed as new Junior Directors with a one year term. At the Board Meeting immediately following the Annual Meeting, the new Board elected Brad Hulshof as President for the 178th Markham Fair in 2022.


Congratulations to the New Homecraft Executive for 2022

Congratulations to the new Homecraft Executive for 2022!  Announced at the Homecraft Annual General Meeting and elections. Congratulations to Hope Shier who will be Homecraft President for 2022 and take a seat on the Board of Directors.  Welcome Allison Lyon to the new Executive!  The fair members look forward to your years of service.
